General Committee
Nominations
|
 |
|
Nominations for
positions on the Centre General Committee (GC) are now being taken.
Nominations for all positions may be accepted. If you do not
want to nominate for a GC position, you may still want to be
involved in a specific area. Check out the
Centre Roles & Responsibilities
and you may find something that really suits your talents!
This is a great way to really get involved and have a say in how
the Centre is managed and to make a real difference. Positions
are open to all members, and interested parties are greatly
encouraged to ask a present Committee member for further
information.
Even if you have never held a position on a committee previously
or just joined the Centre recently, you will be made most
welcome and ideally placed as a fresh new approach is desirable!
Meetings are held once a month, and are conducted in a very
relaxed atmosphere.

State Multi Event
Championships 2010
The VLAA State Multi
Championships were held in Bendigo over the weekend of
the 30th & 31st
January 2010. Tristan Scheirs triumphed again to win the
Multi-Event title for the U/10 boys age group, making it
two years in succession. Tristan won by a margin of 86
points to his nearest rival, setting four personal bests
along the way. Congratulations Tristan on your
back-to-back victories.
Also
competing at the Championships was Chloe Ludwig
in the U/9 girls age group finishing in 32nd
place, whilst Bridie Kelly was only able to complete two
of the five events, and Elyse Congues completing four of
the five events in the U/10 girls group. Jack Congues
placed very well in 10th in the U/10 boys age group. Jackson Connor
placed 39th
in the U/11 boys. In the U/12 boys age group
Trent Scheirs finished in
a respectable 15th
place, with Harvey Connor not far behind in 25th
place.
Well
done to everyone involved, you've made Chelsea proud.

Now Counting
PB's!

From Week 4 of competition, Personal bests (PB's) are counted
towards end of year awards.
The athlete that achieves the most PB's in a season wins the
most prestigious prize at the Centre, the
John Ellem Award.
This is what Little Athletics is all about, just doing your
best and improving on your previous level.
Athletes who achieve five PB's in a single day of competition
attain a Five Star Award: a certificate of their achievements, a voucher to be
used at the canteen, and recognition in the local newspaper.
So don't forget, try your hardest!

Bring A Friend Day At Chelsea

Every day is "Bring A
Friend" day at Chelsea LAC. Please feel free to come along and
try-out Little Athletics at no obligation and no cost. Parents
should make themselves known to an official in the clubrooms and
their child(ren) will be able to compete in their age/gender
group for the day. This is a great way to find out if you and
your children enjoy Little Athletics before joining.
So kids ask your friends if they'd like to join you in all the
fun, and as an added bonus, any athlete who brings along a friend that then
joins the Centre can enter for the chance to win a fabulous Nintendo Wii
entertainment pack valued at $600. Click the image to download the entry
form.

IGA Docket Promotion
IGA, national sponsor of Little Athletics in
Australia, have implemented a fantastic new promotion to enable
Centres to raise valuably needed funds, simply by shopping at
IGA Supermarkets.
Just keep your shopping dockets from IGA and
bring them in to the Centre each week. We will tally these up
and send them in for verification each month. The competition
runs thru until May 2010, and the winners will be announced
later that month.
As the competition is based on the number of
registered athletes at each Centre, each Centre will have an
opportunity of
winning. All families are encouraged to shop at their local IGA
store, and don't forget to tell your family and friends too!
Our local stores are:
Chelsea Heights IGA 199 Thames Promenade, Chelsea
HeightsRitchies Supa IGA Shop 1, 11 Narelle Drive,

Uniforms

A reminder for all athletes that your Club
uniform must be worn during regular Centre Competition. That
means that tracksuit pants and tops, windcheaters, etc. should
be removed while competing. You may wear these whilst waiting
for your next trial during field events, but should be removed
when you are actually performing. Also please note that your IGA
patch must be displayed on the front of your top. The VLAA will
be randomly inspecting Centres during the season to check that
this is being done.
Not only will this help you throw and jump
further or higher and run faster, but it means that we as a Centre meet our
obligations to the VLAA and their/our sponsors for displaying
their brand.
Any continual flaunting of these rules may mean that your Club
will not accumulate any points from your day's performance.

To All New Parents,
please take some time looking around our website, and if you
have any questions at all please ask one of our committee
members (either at Centre or Club Level) who will be only to
glad to help. Answers to general questions may be found in our
FAQ section.
To all those
that are new to Little Athletics, please have a read of the
handy "Parent
Handbook" and "How-To-Help"
booklets, which will provide some valuable information on the
Little Athletics structure, how each event is run, and how you
can contribute to the running of the day's events.
